The mother of former male resident, who has a history of major gang involvement and who has had a very difficult time in transitioning, called this afternoon to extend a thank you to everyone who works here, for our work with her son. The mother indicated that even though he was unsuccessful in completing our program, he has been doing well since his release from custody and credits his time here for his recent progress!

I just wanted to jot a few lines to say goodbye to all of you and to tell you that it’s been a true pleasure to get to know you these past six months—individually as well as collectively. This release date took me a bit by surprise, which is the only reason I haven’t made a point to bid you each farewell personally. I do regret that, and I hope you all understand. Rest assured, I haven’t forgotten or failed to appreciate any of your kindness.
With rare exception you’ve done all a person in my position could possibly ask for: you’ve assisted me when I’ve needed it, and left me alone the rest of the time. For that I offer my deepest and most sincere thanks.
You’ve got a good program here for self-motivated individuals genuinely seeking to reclaim their lives post-prison. I, for one, am grateful to have the opportunity to take advantage of it. Please know that should I ever encounter any of you on the street, you’ll be greeted as friends. All the best to you and yours.
