About Us

The Northwest Regional Re-entry Center (NWRRC) is a non-profit organization that provides correctional services to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, United States Probation

Department, and United States Pre-Trial Services. We house up to 125 federal correctional residents who are in transition from incarceration, serving sanctions for probation violations, or who are awaiting adjudication of federal charges. NWRRC has been in operation since 1976. We are located in NE Portland off Columbia Blvd, near the airport.

Job Description

The Security Monitor position is responsible for the 24-hour daily supervision and monitoring of residents in our facility and while out in the community on

approved passes. Security Monitors also supervise and/or manage resident rule compliance, facility and perimeter security, room and personal searches, drug and alcohol testing, sanitation inspections, visiting procedures, and other tasks as needed for the secure operations of the facility.

Regular Job Duties Include:

Control all entry into and out of the facility by staffing the control desk, maintain a safe and orderly environment

Track resident accountability while absent from facility using “Alert” database system

Communicate with residents in person and on phone, document all communications in Alert database

Conduct hourly facility patrols and regular head counts

Supervises resident activities 24/7, document and report unusual or concerning behaviors

Conduct searches of residents, facility, resident rooms and property, and automobiles

Conduct urine collection and breathalyzer testing activities for residents and contract clients

Control and dispense resident medications and controlled food supplements Cooperate with Case Managers and the Social Services Coordinator in the effort to verify resident employment and job searches, and other approved community activities.

Maintain sanitation of the facility and grounds by monitoring resident chores

Required Qualifications

Able to pass a federal background check, FBI fingerprint check, and drug test

High School Diploma

Good communication skills, in person and on phone

Must be able to use email and computer database systems

Must be able to work nights and weekends and cover shifts on short notice

Preferred Qualifications:

College coursework or degree in Criminal Justice or a related field

Job Specifics

This position is on-call, part time with the potential to become full time after a

6 month probationary period. Full time benefits include medical and dental

insurance, 12 days vacation, and retirement benefits after a year of full time employment. Starts at $13.00 – $13.65 depending on experience.
